CMRRA is presently negotiating a new Mechanical Licensing Agreement (MLA) with the major labels represented by the Canadian Recording Industry Association (CRIA).

Pending the completion of this agreement, CMRRA will issue licenses to Pay As You Press users on the basis of 8.5 cents per song per copy, where the running time of the recording is five minutes or less, plus 1.7 cents per additional minute or partial minute of running time. Rates will be adjusted to equal the new MLA rates on the completion of the MLA.

Pending the completion of the new MLA, we will issue licenses to Independent labels which have signed the MLA on the basis that royalties will be payable at the rate established by the MLA.
